About the Founder=

 

In 2010, Brian Connors founded Vision For Success, in an effort to help individuals, who have lost their vision, adjust to the new changes in their lives and to continue towa= rd a life of success.

 

Brian currently works as a Risk Management Contract Ma= nager for the California Department of Developmental Services.  He previously worked as an Analyst= for the California Employment Development Department and the Governor's Committ= ee on Employment of People with Disabilities.   Brian currently serves as a M= ember and Past Chair of the California State Rehabilitation Council (SRC), the adviso= ry body of the California Department of Rehabilitation.  He has worked with the California H= ealth Incentives Improvement Project (CHIIP) as the O= utreach and Training Sub-Committee Vice-Chair, working to remove barriers to employ= ment and to promote the self-sufficiency of people with disabilities.  He has previously taken on leaders= hip roles with the California Council of the Blind and the Santa Clara Valley<= /st1:PlaceType> Blind Center.  Brian has given presentations on h= ow individuals with disabilities can obtain and maintain a job, using available resources and work incentive programs.&nbs= p; Brian earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration fr= om Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and was the owner of Main St. Online, a one-stop money saving website. Brian has extensive business consulting, retail management, website design and fu= ndraising experience.  Brian was a membe= r of several Lions Clubs and is a graduate of the Lions Clubs International Lead= ership Institute. 

 

Brian was born with a relatively rare eye condition ca= lled aniridia (the absence of the iris.). Until 1999, he was able to perform most life activities without accessible devices or supportive assistance.  After nearly 20 glaucoma and retina surgeries, including a stem cell transplant, Brian lost most of his vision,= and was confronted, like many, with difficult decisions to adapt to a new lifestyle.

 

Vision For Success was developed by Brian as a way to = share, with you or someone you know who is blind or visually-impaired,  the lessons he has learned.  He shares advice on dealing with emotional challenges, overcoming frustrations, developing relationships, becoming employed, and achieving personal success in life.
